Why should I become a Specialty Instructor?
Having a minimum of 5 PADI Specialty Instructor ratings is one of the requirements for applying for the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) rating, which can then lead to further career progression, such as becoming a PADI IDC Staff Instructor.
In addition, having a wider range of PADI courses you are qualified to teach benefits you both financially (for your own business) and professionally, strengthening your CV for diving centers and resorts.
How do I become a PADI Specialty Instructor?
There are two ways to achieve this rating:
- Complete training for the desired specialty with a Course Director.
- Independently apply through the PADI Pros’ website after issuing 25 certifications, by paying with a credit card.
The first option, in addition to often being more cost-effective (for example, with our 5 Instructor Specialties package for €300), offers several advantages.
In fact, this option can be taken immediately after passing the PADI Instructor Examination. This reduces the time needed to become an MSDT. Having a broader range of courses you can teach from the beginning makes it easier to reach the 25-certification milestone.
Moreover, learning with an experienced Course Director is undoubtedly more comprehensive. During each of these PADI courses, the Course Director teaches you how to organize, promote, and conduct a specific specialty course while respecting PADI standards, deepening your knowledge, and understanding how it connects with other courses.
How long does a PADI Instructor Specialty course take??
Each Instructor Specialty Course course has a different duration depending on the type. Some include two dives, such as Wreck Diver Instructor, while others include only one dive, such as Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox). Some specialties require no dives at all, such as Equipment Specialist.
